Our Mission

At Double Diamond Genetics, our mission is to advance cattle genetics through innovative reproductive technology, exceptional animal care, and a commitment to quality that is second to none. We strive to empower cattlemen and breeders to achieve superior livestock that meets the demands of both current and future markets.

Our Roots

Dr. Scott Anderson grew up on a small cow/calf operation and feedlot in Colorado. His interest in the livestock industry led him to Colorado State University, where he pursued a degree in veterinary medicine. While at CSU, a friend encouraged him to reach out to a fellow student, Cindy, to try to sell her a few steers. While he may not have sold Cindy any steers, Scott did manage to ask her out on a date. The pair married in 1987.

After graduation from CSU in May of 1988, Scott initially did an internship with Granada Genetics, Inc. in Marquez, TX, where he learned the trade of collecting and transferring embryos. A year later Granda hired Scott and relocated him to the satellite in Oxford, Indiana in conjunction with Brost Angus Farm. A few years later Granada folded, and the Andersons were able to purchase the business at a reasonable price and keep their clientele. In April 1991, Double Diamond Genetics, Inc. incorporated and relocated to Crisman, Illinois.

Our Growth

Anderson Family 1.jpg

The Andersons purchased their first Angus heifers from Brost Angus, Anderson Circle Farm, Costin Angus, and Wilson Cattle Company in the late 90’s.  They were major clients of DDG and the Andersons wanted to support their business. From there, they began growing and investing in their herd. Major foundation females included WCC Barbara M84 and Dameron Northern Miss 0109.

Their family expanded as well, welcoming four children, Kyle, Shane, Chase and Reese. Their children were instrumental in growing their Angus herd and their embryo transfer business. They were not only a family, they worked together as a team to advance the farm and business. Today the children are all grown and, with their own families, continue to contribute to the success of DDG.

The past 30 years of business have seen over 20,000 collections and 60,000 transfers provided to our clients. DDG can house up to 45 donors in-clinic and has access to various recipient pools.

We came to know Dr. Scott Anderson and his wife Cindy when we were looking to start doing some embryo transfer work some 30 years ago and were told that a firm called Granda Genetics here in Indiana was one that we should look into. So, we did, and at that time Dr. Anderson (Scott) was the vet on staff and he guided us through the process.

Granada closed its doors a few years later and Scott and Cindy started Double Diamond Genetics, Inc., whom we are still working with to this day. We appreciated how particular he is on his recipient selection and his high grading standard on the embryos he implants and freezes, we have housed donors in clinic and do quite a bit of on the farm embryo transfers. With Scott’s help and expertise, we feel we have progressed and really moved our herd of Simmental cattle to a much higher level. Also, we have incorporated very high quality Sim/Angus cattle to our program since the purchase of half interest in Barbara 0411 donor from Scott and Cindy’s donor battery at Double Diamond Angus and a share in the exciting bull Northern Light.

We are looking forward to what the future holds and will always cherish our business relationship and more importantly our friendship with the whole Anderson Family.
